Usha Haley
Chair
Dr. Usha Haley is the W. Frank Barton Distinguished Chair in International Business, Director of the Center for International Business Advancement, and a tenured Professor of Management at Wichita State University. She also serves as Chair of the World Trade Council of Wichita.
An internationally recognized scholar, Dr. Haley has held faculty positions at prestigious institutions worldwide, including Harvard University, Australian National University, and National University of Singapore. Her research focuses on multinational corporations, international strategy, emerging markets, innovation, and business-government relations, resulting in over 330 publications and presentations, including eight books and articles in top-tier journals like Journal of International Business Studies and Harvard Business Review.
Dr. Haley’s research has influenced over 40 regulatory policies and was instrumental in U.S. and EU trade regulations on Chinese subsidies. She has testified before the U.S. Senate, International Trade Commission, and other key agencies, contributing to federal legislation and trade policy. She has secured major research grants, served on nine corporate and governmental boards, and delivered keynotes at global forums.
Recognized with numerous awards, including the Academy of Management's Practice Impact Award and Emerald Publishing’s Lifetime Achievement Award, she is widely profiled in leading international media. Dr. Haley holds a PhD and MPhil from NYU’s Stern School of Business, an MA from the University of Illinois, and a BA from the University of Bombay.

Ted J. Vlamis
Vice-Chair
Ted J. Vlamis recently retired from his position as Vice President of Pioneer Balloon Company. His 42 year career focused primarily on Pioneer’s International Business. Under his leadership Pioneer entered the International Market, and built sales revenue in this market to exceed $50 million per year, accounting for approximately 50% of Pioneer’s revenue. He led the company in establishing wholly owned subsidiaries in Canada, the UK, Australia, Mexico, and Brazil.
He oversaw all international sales activity with sales to over 100 countries, including all major countries. He was responsible for Pioneer’s manufacturing plants in Canada and Mexico,, sales printing and distribution facilities in Canada, the UK, Australia, Mexico, and Brazil, and sales office in Malaysia.
Pioneer has won the Wichita World Trade Council Exporter of the Year (multiple times), KS Governor’s Exporter of the Year, and US Department of Commerce E Award for Excellence in International Business awards.

A.J. Anderson is the director of the Wichita office of the U.S. Commercial Service, part of the U.S. Department of Commerce's global network supporting small and medium-sized businesses in expanding their exports. His office offers export counseling, market insights, international partner connections, and advocacy services.
A Wichita native and Wichita State University graduate, A.J. has extensive experience in international banking and trade risk mitigation, including roles at Koch Industries. He joined the U.S. Commercial Service in 2003 and has led the Wichita office since 2006. A Certified International Credit Professional, he is an active member of the Aerospace and Agribusiness Teams within the U.S. Commercial Service.

Etezazi- Industries Inc.( EII), is a Leading Company in Industrial Engineering, Design and Manufacturing of Machined parts, components, and IT Support to the government and Defense (DLA), leading aviation and aerospace manufacturers, Industrial companies and Businesses. Etezazi Industries can handle Design, Engineering and Manufacturing (DEM) projects in addition with simple short-term projects, reverse engineering, mold or die design and manufacturing, and also manufacturing of low quantity preliminary designs, test and spare parts, Blue streak, as well as high quantity production and assemblies. Prior to being elected CEO, Mr. Etezazi was Director of Operations/Business Development of Etezazi-Industries.
April Chiang
My Position Title
April Chiang is the International Project Manager in the International Division of the Kansas Department of Commerce. She oversees trade, investment, and foreign affairs projects between Kansas and the Greater China Region. Her work includes managing the Kansas International Trade Show Assistance Program (KITSAP), the Kansas International Trade Marketing Assistance Program (KITMAP), and the Kansas Governor’s Exporter of the Year Award. She is also actively involved in the Kansas-Henan Sister-States Relationship.
With over 20 years at Kansas Commerce, April has led numerous business initiatives with companies and government entities across China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Before joining the agency, she held managerial roles in the apparel industry with multinational companies, including K-Mart Taiwan Ltd., and worked as an Executive Recruiter for KPMG Taiwan.

Dina Aaby
My Position Title
Dina has more than 20 years of International Banking experience and is one of the only Certified Documentary Credit Specialists in the Midwest. She earned an international business/economics degree from Wichita State University and is a graduate of the University of Copenhagen International Business Program. Dina is active in the World Trade Council of Wichita, Kansas District Export Council, Kansas International Trade Coordinating Council and Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT). Dina is a member of Bankers Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT), serving on the Trade Compliance, North Central Standby and Commercial Letter of Credit committees as well as the BAFT Regional Bank Council.
Abbie Booth

Abbie Booth is the Vice President of F.H. Kaysing Company with 24 years of experience in the international trade field. Earning her Customs Broker License in 2009 Abbie has been responsible for managing daily operations of the brokerage firm. Abbie is a Wichita native and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Wichita State University in 2003 graduating Magna Cum Laude. Abbie has been married to her high school sweetheart for 23 years and has two sons. The ever changing trade environment and governing regulations require Abbie to continuously educate herself. She is an active member of the National Customs Broker and Forwarders Associate of America, and Trade Support Network which is a forum for the trade community to gather information and provide input on U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s modernization efforts.
Donald E. McClure
Colonel-Senior Policy Analyst, Department of Defense
Colonel Donald McClure serves as a Senior Policy Analyst in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy in Washington, D.C. Previously, he commanded the 184th Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Group at McConnell AFB, Kansas, overseeing three squadrons supporting global intelligence requirements.
Commissioned in 2004, Col. McClure has held key leadership roles, including Squadron Commander of the 184th Intelligence Support Squadron and Ground ISR Branch Chief at the Air National Guard Readiness Center. His deployments include support for OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM and OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, as well as service with the 45th Expeditionary Special Operations Squadron in Iraq and Afghanistan.
A graduate of the Air War College Grand Strategy Program, Col. McClure holds a Master of Strategic Studies and a Master of Military Operational Art and Science. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air and Space Commendation Medal, and Joint Meritorious Unit Award, among others. With over two decades of service, he has been instrumental in intelligence operations, cyber readiness, and strategic leadership across the Air National Guard.

Edo Geromel
Supply Chain Manager- Cargill Protein & Salt
Edo Geromel has been with Cargill since 1999, and in Wichita since 2003 at the Corporate Headquarters for Cargill’s Protein Group. He is currently the Replenishment Manager for Case Ready, with presence in US, Canada and Mexico, where he manages to travel from time to time. He and the Cargill team have responsibility for $1.5B in inventory of protein yearly, that gets sent into processing plants, where he has the accountability of servicing the customers who buy packaged meats at supermarket chains like Wal-Mart, Aldi, Target, Hyvee, Wegmans, Braum’s, and many others.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science from the University of Georgia with a minor in International Business, and a Masters of Science in Supply Chain from Wichita State. His family has ties are in Brazil, where the family travels yearly, and soccer takes the family everywhere else in the world. .

Pierre Harter

Jeff Gordon is Director Learjet Strategy & Business Development for Bombardier Business Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. Jeff joined Bombardier-Learjet in 1995 with roles in Customer Support, Aftermarket Worldwide Distributions, Supplier Management and Material Management prior to his current role. Juan Manuel Escalante

Juan Escalante is Vice President of Sales for Textron Aviation, leading the global sales organization for the SkyCourier. Since joining Textron in 2007, Juan has held leadership roles across multiple regions, including Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, where he managed a multi-hundred-million-dollar portfolio and led cross-functional teams in sales, credit, and customer service. In Latin America, he spearheaded Textron Financial’s operations, driving sales of over 200 new aircraft and generating more than $500 million in revenue.
Prior to Textron, Juan structured Export Credit financing for U.S. aircraft manufacturers as VP of Global Finance for AirFinance. He has conducted business in over 50 countries and speaks fluent English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Laura Lombard is the President and CEO of Kansas Global Trade Services. After graduating from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in 2010, she worked at The Cohen Group (TCG), a global business consulting firm founded by former Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen, providing tactical and strategic advisory to Fortune 500 companies. After leaving TCG, Lombard founded an international business development organization called the Middle East & North Africa Consultants Association (MENA Consultants) in 2012 in Washington, DC. Since moving back to Wichita in 2017, Lombard led an online workforce development company called ImEpik, ran for the 4th District Congressional seat, and consulted for the Climate + Energy Project. In addition to her master’s degree from Johns Hopkins SAIS, Ms. Lombard has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Studies from the University of Kansas.

Louis is a principal of Deloitte Consulting LLP focused on the manufacturing sector and a leader in the firm’s Supply Chain and Network Operations practice. He is a manufacturing professional with more than 25 years of experience in smart operations and supply chain management. Louis consistently demonstrates the ability to address heart of business operational challenges—executing manufacturing strategies, improving operations, reducing cost, increasing speed to market, and enhancing supply chain performance. His extensive industry and consulting experience includes a wide variety of products and spans work in multiple countries.
Louis has spent most of his career focused on the automotive, aerospace, and industrial products sectors in roles across operations, quality, and complex program management. His area of expertise is the optimization of complex supply chains extending from product development through operations and delivery. He leads Smart Factory efforts at original equipment manufacturers to improve near-term performance and step change transformation across the entire value chain.

Mark E. Klein
Managing Director, Lender Accounts
Mark is the Managing Director of Lender Accounts at EXIM, where he collaborates with lenders nationwide to promote products and services that benefit both banks and their exporting clients. He also serves as Regional Director, assisting exporters of all sizes across the Midwest, with a primary focus on KY, OH, MO, and KS, while supporting businesses throughout the Central Regional Office’s 19-state territory. Mark has been with EXIM Bank for over 11 years.
EXIM is the official Export Credit Agency of the U.S., dedicated to financing U.S. goods and services in international markets, thereby boosting export sales and supporting U.S. jobs.
Before joining EXIM, Mark was an International Banking Services Specialist for three commercial banks, advising exporters in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, and West Virginia on Letters of Credit, Foreign Exchange Risk Mitigation, and Export Credit Insurance.
A University of Louisville graduate with both undergraduate and MBA degrees, Mark also holds the Certified International Credit Professional (CICP) designation from FCIB. He resides in Louisville, KY.
Patrick Binger

Patrick Binger has been with Cargill the better part of the past 33 years. He joined the Cargill’s red meat subsidiary, then called Excel Corporation, in 1986, following graduation from Northern State University in South Dakota. In 1991, without any export experience, he expanded his responsibilities to join Cargill’s expanding export business.
For the past 12 years, he has continued to lead an international business segment for Cargill’s North America protein business located in Wichita KS. He is optimistic about future export growth, expanding the product mix and finding ways to increase the utilization of the carcass.
While 2021 was a challenging year, Patrick Binger served as chair of the US Meat Export Federation, a nonprofit trade association working to create new opportunities and develop existing international markets for beef, pork, lamb and veal.

Pierre Harter
Associate Vice President of Research and Industry Engagement
Pierre Harter is the Associate Vice President for Research and Industry Engagement at WSU. In this role, Pierre oversees R&D programs, identifies opportunities for new programs and partnerships and develops growth strategies for academic researchers as well as researchers in WSU’s Industry and Defense programs division . Prior to joining WSU, Pierre was Executive Director of Advanced Manufacturing Strategy for Spirit AeroSystems with previous executive roles in program management and R&D. Prior to Spirit, he was an Engineering Director at Bombardier Learjet. Earlier in his career, he worked in Denver Colorado as a consultant in the aerospace industry, was a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Designated Engineering Representative (DER), and held a variety of engineering and executive leadership positions at Adam Aircraft Industries developing and certifying general aviation aircraft. Pierre received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering at WSU, and his MBA from Newman University.
Ray Garvey
Member of the Directory Committee
Ray Garvey ('83) is a proud Wichita State alumnus whose journey with the World Trade Council began in 1982 as a member of the Directory Committee. Following an MBA in 2000, Ray joined The Grasshopper Company, a global leader in commercial grounds maintenance equipment, where he now serves as Export Manager, overseeing operations in over 40 international markets.
In 2015, Ray began teaching International Marketing as an Adjunct Professor in Friends University's Global MBA Program, a role he deeply values. He has served on the World Trade Council board for over a decade and was invited to join the Kansas Global Trade Services board in 2018. From 2017-2020, Ray served on the Mid-America District Export Council, an appointment by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce.
Ray also participates in Toastmasters International, guest lectures at Aix-Marseille University, and enjoys traveling with his wife, Teresa. They share a special connection with Seattle, where their three children reside.
Reid Jackson
Program Manager -Spirit AeroSystems
Reid Jackson is a Program Manager and Corporate Development Leader at Spirit AeroSystems. Since joining Spirit, he has held key leadership roles in Business Development, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), and Strategy. Most recently, he was responsible for Spirit’s organic and inorganic expansion into regions of Southeast Asia.
Prior to joining Spirit in 2015, Reid spent 10+ years working in the D.C. metro area for Lockheed Martin and Engility (formerly TASC) where he held numerous leadership roles within the Finance and Business Development organizations.
Reid holds an MBA from Newman University (2019), and a BS, Finance from University of Maryland (2005).

Managing Director of Syndicated Lending at INTRUST Bank
Rob Harmon is Managing Director of Syndicated Lending at INTRUST Bank. He has 30+ years of banking experience in financial accounting, bank operations and commercial lending. Rob serves on the board of directors of Goodwill Industries of Kansas, Prairie Homestead Independent Living Center, Visit Wichita Convention and Visitor Bureau and the World Trade Council of Wichita. He is a graduate of Wichita State University, holding degrees in accounting and economics.
Robert Hartsook
JD, EdD, DBA
Bob Hartsook is a global leader in philanthropy and high-end fundraising. As Chair of Hartsook, one of the world's largest fundraising consulting firms, and President of the Hartsook Institutes for Applied Fundraising Research, Bob has dedicated his career to advancing philanthropy. His notable achievements include leading Wichita State University to successfully complete one of the nation's first $100 million fundraising campaigns in the 1980s.
A distinguished honoree, Bob has received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Emporia State University, the Spirit of Philanthropy Award from Indiana University's Center on Philanthropy, and an honorary Doctorate of Business from Plymouth University, UK. He holds degrees in Economics, Counseling, Law, and Education.

Seth Merrell
Senior Quality Program Manager
Seth Merrell is a Senior Quality Program Manager at the Headquarters Field Operations Directorate (FOD) of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). FOD oversees 88 field offices and a large service center, supporting the adjudication of immigration applications that contribute to the U.S. economy by expanding the labor force and enhancing productivity. In his role, Seth focuses on organizational performance analysis, quality program management, and process improvement, integrating production and supply chain practices to enhance operational efficiency.
A New York native, Seth retired from the U.S. military and has a diverse background spanning corporate and government sectors. Before his military service, he played key roles in his family's fine jewelry manufacturing business and wine and beer importing, including pioneering Spanish beer imports to the U.S. Post-military, Seth worked in the aircraft industry in spares engineering, price-cost analysis, and supply chain management, and also taught as an adjunct instructor.
Currently pursuing a DBA, Seth holds an MBA from Webster University, an M.S.Ed. from Newman University, a BS in HRM from Friends University, and multiple associate degrees. He is certified as a Six-Sigma Master Black Belt and in program and supply chain management. Shawn D. Sullivan
VP Tax Services - Allen, Gibbs & Houlik, L.C
Shawn, Executive VP Tax Services, has been with Allen, Gibbs & Houlik, L.C. for over 25 years. He is an International and Corporate Tax Services Advisor and has earned the prestigious U.S. International Tax: Inbound and Outbound Transactions Certification.
He performs Business and tax consulting, is responsible for management of specialty services which consists of Cost Segregation Studies, IC-DISC, International tax consulting, R&D Tax Credit Studies, IPIC LIFO inventory and Kansas High Performance Incentive Plan credits. He also is an Industry expertise in Automobile Dealerships, Manufacturing, Retail and Wholesale Distribution, Construction, and Medical. He primarily works with companies with revenues of $10m to $400m.
Shawn is also a graduate of Wichita State University.
He performs Business and tax consulting, is responsible for management of specialty services which consists of Cost Segregation Studies, IC-DISC, International tax consulting, R&D Tax Credit Studies, IPIC LIFO inventory and Kansas High Performance Incentive Plan credits. He also is an Industry expertise in Automobile Dealerships, Manufacturing, Retail and Wholesale Distribution, Construction, and Medical. He primarily works with companies with revenues of $10m to $400m.
Shawn is also a graduate of Wichita State University.
Wendy Crossman

Wendy Crossman is a VP of Supply Chain Management at Spirit AeroSystems. In her current role, Wendy is responsible for Spirit’s US Supplier Development/Operation Support, Transfer of Work and Execution organization. Wendy has been an employee at Spirit for 27 years. For the first eight years she worked for Boeing and made the transition in 2005 to Spirit AeroSystems. Wendy has held several positions with Boeing and Spirit since 1997. Wendy earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Wichita State University. She holds three master’s degrees and earned her Doctorate in Business Administration from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
